Lectio Divina
The Ancient Practice of Divine Reading
Read the passage slowly, aloud if possible. Allow each word to land. Notice if a word or phrase catches your attention — this may be God's invitation to you.
Return to the word or phrase that drew you. Roll it around in your heart. Let it interact with your thoughts, memories, desires, and current life situation. Ask: What is God saying to me through this?
Let your meditation become prayer. Speak to God from your heart — thanksgiving, petition, confession, surrender. This is a response to what God has spoken through the Word.
Rest in God's presence. Move beyond words into simple, loving attention. You do not need to think or speak. Simply be with God, open and receptive, as a child rests in a parent's arms.
Finis et Pax
You have completed your Lectio Divina. May the Word you have received continue to work within you throughout this day and beyond. Go in peace.
